The device's general responsiveness and perceived latency were almost identical whether I connected from a remote Gigabit port or a slow wireless connection dozens of hops away. In all cases, the KN9116 responded quickly and didn't make me wait for my input to be acted on.
To access the KN9116 as an admin or user over the network, you must point a browser session to the unit's IP address and a configurable Web page name. This setup helps with security: Configure the starting Web page as "cheese.html," for example, and the unit can't be accessed unless that exact page name is included in the administrative URL. The connection is quickly forwarded to a 128-bit SSL session to protect transmitted screen images and input signals. After the session begins, remote users receive a splash screen of sorts, where they are given the choice of using a "Windows client" or "Java client" pushed from the KVM to control the connected servers.
