Aruba Updates Mobile OS, Management Tools

Aruba Networks today released new versions of its mobile operating system and application engine, as well as its next-generation management platform, to help enterprises manage their mobile networks.

Together, ArubaOS 3.1 and the vendor's Mobility Management System (MMS) 3.0 provide the tools for IT to manage a global multiservice mobility network, the vendor says. New features include support for virtual mobile networks, which Aruba says combine the benefit of centralized wireless network control with localized management capabilities.

The new products also let IT create management contexts to delegate rights among a team of admins as well as bandwidth control tools to deal with the problem of slow clients and allow the use of per-SSID service-level agreements. The release also includes capabilities for managing voice-over-wireless services and integration with existing security infrastructures.

Overall, Aruba says its approach is to enable the use of security and network service policies tied to individual users, so as users roams across an enterprise, their level of wireless is driven by their roles and privileges.
